Hosts DC: A Night at the Museum

Imagine this… You disembark a motor coach outside the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of Natural History on the National Mall in Washington, DC. The iconic museum is open afterhours exclusively for you and your colleagues to experience an unforgettable evening. Upon entering the museum, you enjoy cocktails and tray passed hors d’oeuvres in the Hall of Mammals, an eccentric setting featuring life-like mammal specimens and an adventurous atmosphere. A surprise performance kicks the reception up a notch when a real-life “Rafiki” sings out the ever-recognizable first notes of The Lion King’s “Circle of Life”. While Rafiki captures guests’ attention on one end of the Hall, a second vocalist emerges on the opposite side of the venue and the pair captivate guests with an a cappella duet of the Academy Award nominated Disney hit. As the song builds momentum, various animals and creatures emerge, interpretively dancing and interacting with guests. This animal kingdom
leads you and your colleagues in a procession to the evening’s next adventure, creating excitement every step of the way.

This spectacle was just the beginning of a progressive celebration that was managed by our team at Hosts DC last October. The museum takeover exceeded our client’s expectation of an interactive evening inspired by the museums exhibits.

Interested in learning more about this progressive celebration and where the Lion King procession led guests for their second reception experience? You’ll have to contact our team at Hosts DC. I will share the final surprise of the evening –  two realistic dinosaur puppets that silently meandered through the reception, shocking guests with their size and life-like qualities. This was truly an unforgettable end to an evening filled with natural wonders.

Washington, DC is home to several museums, including seventeen Smithsonian Institutions. Our Hosts DC team has the unique opportunity to work within the museums on a day-to-day basis, creating client experiences that pair with the subject of each exhibit in the most innovative ways. In honor of International Museum Day, consider your next event at a museum for a truly interactive guest experience.
