Feeding South Florida® is committed to serving individuals, families and older adults experiencing food insecurity and we are doing all we can to care for our community. Volunteers will assist with the inspecting, sorting, and repacking of donated food.
Sustainable Efforts
Throughout the planning process, our role as a partner DMC is to provide proven, honest and achievable options for clients to make a difference. We are corporate members of the Sustainable Events Network and as a community we share ideas and new solutions. If signage printing is the only option, we arrange to have the foam core picked up at the end of the conference and donated to the local schools who always want it for projects.
We have established protocols with our caterers for safely wrapping and packaging any left over food that is immediately donated to an established shelter.
We use local flora and fauna, unique containers, and live plants as much as possible in our table designs. What we can’t recycle and reuse, we donate.
We have long term relationships with the local teams that provide eco-conscious activities and local school projects such as beach clean ups, seedling plantings, building new bookshelves for a school library (and populating them with books!) and beautification murals.
We work with the local charities and food banks to provide meaningful opportunities for attendees to participate and give back and if you have ever experienced the emotional impact of seeing the value of many hands, you know it’s a memory for a lifetime.
We consolidate shipments for multi-day programs by using on-site storage and we require staged vehicles to be turned off instead of idling.
We use local artisans pop-up shops, gifts and amenities to keep the dollars in the community and eliminate shipping.
To address the elephant in the room, the effects of flight emissions, we promote Trees4Travel for measuring the impact of a conference and funding the carbon off-sets.
By involving the attendees in the sustainability protocols, by gathering and sharing data, by providing vetted solutions, we make it easy for clients to do good things to meet their goals.
