Hosts Global Alliance (HGA) is proud to announce their membership to Tourism Cares, the travel industry’s network for giving back to local communities worldwide.
Joining some of the most distinguished travel companies as inaugural members of Tourism Cares, HGA will help to protect destinations in need, including those in the US, Peru, Mexico, Egypt and Myanmar. Working with Tourism Cares, HGA will help bring travel professionals from across the US together to restore tourism sites via volunteer events, provide skilled labor to destinations when disasters strike, share industry best practices in giving back, and support emerging and recovering travel destinations and communities.
Established more than a decade ago as the official philanthropic arm of the National Tour Association and the United States Tour Operator Association, the non-profit Tourism Cares launched an invitation-only membership program this year. Other inaugural members of Tourism Cares include Delta Airlines, Travel Weekly, InterContinental Hotel Group, and Tauck Tours.
HGA and Tourism Cares also work together to deliver scholarships and mentoring to young travel professionals; help local social enterprises supporting tourism; and provide advocacy and education across the travel industry. Tourism Cares, with HGA as a member, will work as stewards of the travel industry and travel experience – and to support travel destinations as engines for prosperity, civil society, and pride in their communities.
