General Manager of Hosts Southern California
Around the office you’re known for –
I carry a clipboard (gift from my hubby) with my printed Outlook calendar for the day, task list with checkboxes next to each item, and other program related documents. It’s a little old school, but I love crossing things off my list each day and seeing the progress made toward a successful event.
Event experience you will never forget: It’s a tie – I led Ops on a citywide biotech conference that was the highest grossing program I’d ever managed and it was an amazing team effort. Cirque show at the SDCC, massive trans shuttles, buyout of Gaslamp venues, and a separate program to manage the security for the protestors!
The other program was working with the Port District on the grand opening of the expansion of the SDCC. My father worked at the Port and was integral in getting the City and Port to work together and see the benefit of the expansion and its impact on San Diego. It’s amazing to see how much San Diego has grown over the years.
The one SoCal secret I’m willing to share… I love listening to live music and Humphrey’s by the Bay usually has a pretty good summer line up. But no need to buy a ticket for every show – just grab a picnic dinner, launch your kayak and float around the venue for your own private serenade.
Laura graduated from San Diego State University with plans to be a teacher. While attending college, she worked for a top hotel brand and fell in love with the hospitality industry. From hotels to DMC’s to corporate catering, Laura has always felt proud of the decision to work with the passionate, creative, and dedicated people she collaborates with in this business. As Director of Operations, Laura pulls together both her skill sets by executing amazing events while teaching and sharing her experience with her growing team.
When she is not immersed in events, Laura spends time with her husband and daughter exploring San Diego, planning their next travel adventures, and cooking for friends and family.
