Did you know that travel is the United States’ number one service export? Our team is proud to be a part of that fact and recognize the millions of others who also work hard to keep our industry strong. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the U.S. travel industry supports 15.3 million American jobs. That’s one in nine Americans whose employment depends upon travel to and within the U.S. It’s safe to say, our industry is one that relies on human interaction—whether it’s the front desk clerk at a hotel, the tour guide in a historic district, or your dedicated global liaison at Hosts Global (wink, wink), together we keep our industry strong. That’s why National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW) has selected the theme “Faces of Travel” for the industry’s 2017 initiative, going on now (May 7-13, 2017). This theme highlights the need to craft smart, travel-friendly government policies that keep the nation’s jobs flourishing within our industry.
