Meet Marti Winer, the accomplished SVP and Regional General Manager – Hosts West, overseeing Hosts Seattle, Hosts Southern California, and Hosts Las Vegas. With over 20 years of leadership experience in hospitality and events, Marti brings a unique perspective on operations, finance, and experiential marketing to Hosts Global. From restoring the iconic Casa Bonita to leading MGM Resorts Event Productions and global communications at Wyndham Hotels, Marti leverages her expertise to deliver immersive, engaging, and unforgettable experiences for clients and audiences across the West region.
Around the office, you’re known for: Working hard to ensure everyone is cared for and well-fed. This is a stressful, but rewarding, industry and it takes a village to take good care of each other. I’m committed to that above all else.
Meeting or event experience you’ll never forget: Many years ago I was responsible for conceptualizing and executing a brand new conference combining several previously separate events for a new audience of about 10,000 people. While the planning for this event was memorable in how it stretched my leadership skills, creativity and event knowledge, the most meaningful moment was seeing it come together. Watching 10,000 people over the course of three days collectively experience what our team designed was incredible. And, no surprise, the most memorable moment was exhaling when it was over, never having realized I had been holding my breath the whole time.
The one personal fun fact we’re willing to share: I’m not sure this is actually a secret (in a good way), but Las Vegas has so many beautiful outdoor spaces and places not too far from the Strip. If you love fresh air and open space, Las Vegas may have a surprising number of locations for you to find a new vantage point of both the Las Vegas Valley and your perspectives on life.
About Marti: Marti B. Winer brings over 20 years of experience in the hospitality and events industries to Hosts Global. She was most recently leading the charge and building the team that successfully revived the iconic Casa Bonita, a 50 year old immersive experience, purchased and revived by the creators of South Park. Prior to that, Marti was responsible for MGM Resorts Event Productions. Under Marti’s leadership, MREP was focused on maintaining its rich history and bringing cutting-edge innovation and creativity to customers. She has also served as Vice President, Global Communications and Events for Wyndham Hotel Group, as well as produced events for industries ranging from finance and pharma to food service and franchising. Her leadership in these roles and others gives Marti unique experience in finance, operations and experiential marketing from both from the client and service provider perspectives.
Marti is an energetic leader with a track record of success in utilizing communications, events, marketing and analytics in corporate and entrepreneurial environments. She has a passion for hospitality and a firm belief that events are the greatest communication to foster engagement among global diverse audiences. She also believes that by keeping a keen focus on the goal and vision for each unique event, it can exceed expectations in delivering “wow” moments on time and on budget.
Marti has a BA in Economics and Political Science from Drew University, Madison, NJ, an MBA from Rutgers University and, just for fun, a Masters of Letters from Drew University having completed a thesis on the role of hospitality in 20th century literature. In her spare time, Marti also sits on a variety of non-profit boards supporting children and education, enjoys reading almost everything, and has been known to clown around on Thanksgiving as a performer in the Macy’s Parade.
